But some consumers were looking for the iPhone 5 - but that is not announced yet. Computer makers generally name their major releases 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. but then give intermediate releases subnumbers - like release 4.1 (or ... in this case 4s).

So, consumers have some deciding to do - go with the newest and latest (and faster) - or wait for the next version?

It was a bit of a disappointment for many, including myself, that Apple did not release the iPhone 5. I do wonder though, how the passing of Steve Jobs may impact sales of the 4S...I have a feeling it may positively impact sales.
It is disappointing, but based on data recieved so far, it has surpassed all kind of records... pre order data was surpussed by large margin....
